Daniel Morrissey is an aspiring international affairs professional who recently moved from New York City to the DC metro area to pursue his career. His interests focus primarily on conflict and security issues concentrating on counterterrorism, counterinsurgency strategies, Balkan security issues, security sector reform, disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) strategies, capacity building within state institutions, and humanitarian intervention to name a few. He recently completed his MA in international affairs at the New School University where he wrote his thesis on the evolving ideology and structure of Al-Qaeda, particularly following the Global War on Terror. He most recently worked for The Agenda Project, a progressive political advocacy non-profit in New York and prior to that he spent the Summer of 2010 conducting research and writing about the DDR process in Kosovo following the 1999 NATO intervention, and the subsequent formation of the Kosovo Security Force.
