Ryan is a journalist, cartoonist, and entrepreneur with several years of experience in overseas reporting, international business, development aid, and nonprofit management. Before joining PolicyMic, Ryan lived and worked as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in Uganda, where he served as a freelance reporter, covering international finance, sexual assault, and prison reform. He later started a fair-trade lingerie company, securing coverage in The Huffington Post and raising more than $15,000 with a crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo. Ryan holds a bachelor's degree in international studies from the University of North Texas and will undertake a master of arts in global communication at The George Washington University in spring 2014.
