Everyone loves Robert (Pattinson). Ever since the scandal broke that his longtime girlfriend, Kristen Stewart, cheated on Pattinson with a 41-year-old married director, Rupert Sanders, female celebrities have welcomed the Brit with open arms. Katy Perry has already been a shoulder to lean on, sending Pattinson messages to comfort him during his devastating break-up. Now, his former co-star Reese Witherspoon is giving Pattinson refuge in her vacation home in Ojai, Calif. after he moved out of the L.A. home that he shared with Stewart.
All of this comes in addition to the outpouring of fan support. Right after news of the affair between Stewart and her boss broke, Twitter was ablaze with declarations of support for the star during his tumultuous split. Of course, the media is now trying to guess which starlet Pattinson will rebound with. However, it doesn’t look like Pattinson is looking for anything more than friendship right now; it seems that he is still very distraught over his separation from Stewart.
For the most part, the media has embraced Pattinson, making him the tragic hero of the messy Pattinson-Stewart-Sanders love triangle. The media has not been so kind to his ex-girlfriend. Despite Stewart's very public apology, she is no longer the media darling she was once; now she's considered to be a cross between an ungrateful floozy and a home wrecker. That said, there is a clear media bias when it comes to who gets most of the blame in that situation, but that’s a conversation for another time.
Nevertheless, in any celebrity breakup, the public is forced to choose one side or the other. Pattinson clearly wins the fan favorite vote, but with a heart still broken, it may not feel like a victory at all.
