This Hypnotizing Video Sums Up Every Painfully Unoriginal Instagram Post

Instagram has potential to be a visually intriguing social media platform — but that potential is ruined by mostly over-filtered selfies and pictures of people's food. Nonetheless, we find ourselves returning to our Instagram feeds several times a day to mindlessly scroll through the photos until we force ourselves to withdraw. 

Musician Hiérophante capitalized off of that idea to create a stunning video that flashes through all the Instagram clichés — selfies, lattes, nail art, tattoos, Rihanna's account — in 2 1/2 minutes. The video is similar to Instagram feeds in that it's both sickeningly cliché and mesmerizing. 

A heroic comedian recently called out the absurdity of perfectly tailored celebrity Instagram posts by imitating them herself. She mocked viral Instagrams of Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Miranda Kerr and Kendall Jenner that were the subject of social media envy.
