Just as the polls closed at 9 p.m., Carolyn Ryan, the political editor of the New York Times, tweeted the following:
BREAKING: Bill de Blasio 43, Thompson 23, and Quinn 18 in exit polls. #nyc2013— carolynryan (@carolynryan) September 11, 2013
If these numbers hold, de Blasio is the nominee and goes straight to the general election with no runoff. But remember — these are exit polls. The numbers very well may not hold. We'll have more information for you as we get it.
