Cory Booker Gay? This Vegan Stripper Probably Hopes Not

Impact

With the public and even his spokespeople unsure of his sexuality, private messages between Newark mayor and New Jersey Senate hopeful Cory Booker and vegan Portland stripper Lynsie Lee have surfaced in either a clever PR move by his team or an oopsy daisy move that seems to be so popular among politicians. In a direct message on Twitter, Booker tells Lee, "The East Coast loves you, and by the East Coast, I mean me." This flirtatious tête-à-tête seems to have been instigated originally by Lee, with a tweet directed at the Mayor saying, "The West Coast loves you, and by the West Coast, I mean me."

The image apparently came to light when Booker announced his future candidacy for President of the New Jersey Star Trek Club. Offering to be Booker's first lady apparently made people jealous, because as soon as Lee put her offer in, Twitter user @Calla stepped in to announce she and Booker had exchanged multiple private messages to each other

Whether or not there's anything to this interaction, the fact is that Booker hasn't acted monstrously (or even inappropriately), nor has he said anything disrespectful of Lee. And Booker, despite rescuing puppies, is as single as they come. Nobody seems to be hurt by this exchange, and Booker has always been known for replying to his Twitter followers, no matter who they are. To quote Booker's spokesperson, Kevin Giffis, "There have been a couple of stories about that over the years. Really, the most shocking part of this story was learning there is a vegan strip club in Portland.”
